CHANDIGARH: As the estate branch of the finance department of the UT administration has notified the ‘Chandigarh Scheme for Transfer of Flats/Dwelling Unit in the Co-operative House Building Societies, 2018’, the registrar of co-operative housing societies-cum-DC office has initiated the implementation process of the notification on ground.
Chandigarh DC Mandeep Singh Brar has assigned the work to the concerned officers, who will soon set up camps and desks to implement the clauses of the notification, mainly the transfer of ownership works. There are around 10,000 flats located in the southern sectors of the city (from sectors 48 to 51), which directly fall under the notification.
The scheme would enable thousands of the residents of co-operating housing societies to restart the transfer of flats, ownership rights to the occupants and sale of purchase of these housing societies. Since the new policy is valid till June 30, 2019 only, sources in the UT revealed that the process to start accepting the applications will start very soon.
As the owners of co-operative housing societies and flats occupants will have to attach required documents and other relevant papers while applying as per the notification, source in the UT revealed that the concerned department has also been preparing the list against each kind of work, so that people can easily understand that what documents are required for which work. As per information, there are around 108 co-operative housing societies in the city, spreading from sectors 48 to 51. There are around 10,000 flats of various categories in these co-operative housing societies.
Since the transfer of properties of these housing societies were struck-off since January 2014, around 40% flats were transferred before that and the process of transfer of the rest came to a halt.
